Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, & Nigo. They are the ultimate creative fashion icon trifecta, who have all recently signed & partnered with the sneaker brand adidas.
Combining function with culture as always, adidas will no doubt usher in a new era of fashionable sneakers created by these influential individuals.
Having already partnered with fashion designers in the past, (Yohji Yamamoto, Jeremy Scott, Mark McNairy, Stella McCartney, Raf Simons, & Rick Owens), adidas will undoubtedly solidify its position as the most fashion forward sneaker brand on the market with Kanye, Pharrell, & Nigo joining the design roster.
As for Nike, it’s just too bad they ruined their relationship with Kanye… Now they’re trying to get in on the fashion tip by bringing aboard Riccardo Tisci, right after dropping the “Red Octobers”, and although I respect what RT does with Givenchy, he honestly flopped with his Nike AF-1 collection. In the near future, Nike will also look to collaborate with the rapper Drake as well, who honestly doesn’t have much of an influence in regards to fashion at all. Seriously, Nike should just stick to basketball shoes, dropping LeBrons, Kobes, & KDs which aren’t very fashionable to say the least, and of course they have to keep regurgitating those Jordans, retroing them to death year after year in horrible quality & immense quantities.
In my honest opinion, adidas has made a smart move investing in these iconic fashion celebrities, whom kids look up to for fashion tips on what to wear, whereas Nike just dropped the ball with Kanye, and will soon be losing the fashion game entirely to its competitor adidas.
